Phil Fontaine (OC, OM) is a special advisor to the Royal Bank of Canada. Fontaine served as national chief of the Assembly of First Nations for three terms. He is a Member of the Order of Manitoba and received many awards, including a National Aboriginal Achievement Award, the Equitas Award for Human Rights Education, and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2012. Fontaine holds sixteen honorary doctorates from Canada and the United States.
